Economic growth "very slow" in SW Michigan

Economic growth was "very slow" in southwest Michigan last month, according to the latest report for the National Association of Purchasing Management.

Brian Long, who's head of Supply Chain Management Research at Grand Valley State University, says data collected during the last two weeks of January show economic indicators weren't as strong as they had been in December.

Long says Dana Corporation's recent announcement that it will close its Texas Township facility and move 150 jobs elsewhere indicates that growth may continue to be slow during the next few months.
