Filing deadline for May school board elections

There will be two candidates on the ballot for two seats on the Kalamazoo School Board in May. Patti Sholler-Barber is seeking another term. Board president Mollie Peterson is not running for re-election. Western Michigan University administrator Martha Warfield is the only other candidate who filed for the office before Tuesday's deadline.

Three candidates are seeking two seats on the Portage School Board. Geoffrey Howe, Douglas Nagy and Joanne Wilson will be seeking four-year terms. Board Vice President John Whyte and trustee Deb Polderman are not seeking re-election.

Bo Snyder is the only candidate running for a two year term. Snyder was appointed to replace Jennifer Whistler when she resigned from the Portage School Board last year.
