Kalamazoo County's Housing Assistance Fund voucher program is coming to a close. Public Housing Commission Chairman David Anderson gave county commissioners an update Tuesday night on the board's activities. Anderson, a Kalamazoo City Commissioner, says they have accomplished a lot, not the least of which is establishing a sizable endowment to fund the group's activities over the coming years.
But he says it is not enough to maintain the voucher program, which helps get people out of shelters and into homes at least temporarily. Anderson says people currently being helped by the county's fund will transition either to their own housing or to some other form of subsidized housing.
