Developers have announced plans for a new 200,000 square foot facility in downtown Kalamazoo. Phoenix Properties and Downtown Kalamazoo Incorporated announced the project Thursday. The eight-story building will include a mix of residential, office and retail space. It will be located at West Michigan Avenue and Rose Street next to the Comerica Bank Building. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with tenants moving in late in 2012. Gilmore Enterprises had been the owner of the site. The property is currently a parking lot, used mainly by tenants of the Comerica Bank Building.

Architectural firm Tower Pinkster firm has a blog with an entry on the proposed downtown development.
