A Western Michigan University student plans to run 35 miles this weekend to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Bryan Applin will make his run from Kalamazoo to South Haven on Saturday. He is running in memory of his grandmother who passed away in 2007.

Applin says his grandmother was an important part of his life, and he says it was difficult to see Alzheimer's cause her deteroriation.

Applin says he decided to make the run in January in part because the Alzheimer's Association of Michigan didn't have any events scheduled for this month. Applin says he would like to make the run from Kalamazoo to South Haven an annual event.
