Kalamazoo City Commissioners have approved a series of proposed amendments to the city charter to appear on the November ballot. Mlive/Kalamazoo Gazette reports that the proposed changes include requiring the City Commission to meet twice a month, rather than every two weeks and establish a 60 day window for gathering petition signatures for City Commission nominating petitions. Currently petition signatures must be gathered between 60 and 30 days before the election. City Attorney Clyde Robinson describes the six charter amendments as “housekeeping items.”
