Mlive Kalamazoo: Occupy Kalamazoo sets up encampment in Bronson Park

Members of Occupy Kalamazoo plan to stay in tents in Bronson Park for the next two months. Mlive/Kalamazoo Gazette reports the group has named its encampment “compassion park.” It is being set up to protest the city’s clearing out of a “tent city” homeless camp on the northeast side of the city. But the event's Facebook page reminds participants that sleeping in the park violates a city ordinance, and it says people who choose civil disobedience will not do so as part of Occupy Kalamazoo.
