The latest figures point to slower in West Michigan’s economy. MiBiz reports that both the latest survey of Purchasing Managers and Comerica’s Economic Activity Index continued to show signs of a sluggish recovery. But there were some positive signs. Analyst Brian Long’s report for the National Association of Purchasing Managers found key economic indicators had improved in the Kalamazoo area during July. But Long, who is Director of Supply Chain Management Research at Grand Valley State University, says the report indicates slower economic and job growth. Both Long's report for Purchasing Managers and the Comerica Economic Index were released before the latest jobs report from the Labor Department showing only 96,000 jobs were created in August.
