As state universities deal with fewer state dollars and fewer high school graduates in the state, they’re looking for more out of state students to come to Michigan. Bridge Magazine, an online news service produced the Center for Michigan, reports that the higher tuition rate paid by out of state students can help the bottom line at state universities. Western Michigan University is sixth in percentage of students from out of state with 10.2%. The University of Michigan has the highest percentage, 30.5% of its students come from states other than Michigan.
