The state has approved a $2-million loan to Benton Harbor Public Schools. The Herald-Palladium reports that the loan can only be used to pay current operating expenses and the district will face several reporting requirements after receiving the money. Benton Harbor district officials have said they needed the state loan to make September payrolls.
