Migrant farm worker advocate Dolores Huerta will visit Kalamazoo Tuesday. She'll participate in a march to honor the life and achievements of Cesar Chavez on the birthday of the civil rights leader, who died in 1993. The march was organized by students in the Bilingual Club at Kalamazoo Central High School. Huerta worked with Chavez and the United Farm Workers Union. She says that a lack of equal rights is still a problem for migrant and other farm workers in the U.S.
The Cesar Chavez Day march will begin at Western Michigan University's Bernhard Center Tuesday morning at 10:00. Huerta will speak about farm workers rights at Western's Fetzer Center at 6:00. The march was sponsored by the Bilingual Club at Kalamazoo Central High School.?
