Herald-Palladium: Benton Harbor asks for Treasury Department help

The Benton Harbor City Commission has officially requested the state Treasury Department get involved in the city’s fiscal crisis. Voters rejected two millage proposals that would have raised a combined $1.4-million. The Herald-Palladium reports Emergency Financial Manager Joseph Harris says options right now include outsourcing police services to Berrien County, levying special assessments, putting the millages on the ballot again, or bankruptcy.
