Battle Creek Enquirer: Schools absorb cuts in state funding

Battle Creek area school districts say they ended up with more money in the bank at the end of the 2011-12 fiscal year than they originally planned. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that the 26 districts all absorbed a cut in state revenue, and had to make spending cuts that included eliminating staff and programs.
