An anonymous donor has given Michigan State University $10-million. $7-million will be devoted to financial aid and scholarships, with a focus on helping students who are women and minorities. There are no strings attached to the other $3-million. $10-million is the biggest anonymous individual contribution in MSU history.

In recent weeks, at least a dozen universities have received anonymous donations totaling more than $60-million. Kalamazoo College also received a $1-million gift earlier this month from an anonymous donor. That money is to be used for financial aid.
