KPS wins $7.5 million state grant

The Kalamazoo Public Schools have won $7.5 million dollars in state grants for after-school and summer programs. The five-year project in cooperation with Kalamazoo Communities in Schools will target students who need help with academics or behavior problems.

The programs will begin in September. One will help high school and middle school students while the other focuses on elementary grades. The money comes from the state's 21st Century Learning Center program.
