Grant will help Kalamazoo College launch social justice center

Kalamazoo College says it has received a $2-million grant from the Arcus Foundation to launch a social justice center. K-college says the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership will offer lectures by people recognized for their work in social justice. Residencies for scholars, artists and activists are also planned, along with conferences to address major issues.

The money from the Arcus Foundation will be used for the first two years of the social justice center's operations and to hire staff. An executive director, academic director and support staff are expected to start work this spring.
