Water and Wastewater rates on Kalamazoo Commission Agenda Monday night

Kalamazoo City Commissioners are scheduled to consider new water and wastewater rates during their meeting Monday night. Officials in some of the townships served by the Kalamazoo system have asked for more information about how the rates are calculated. But city officials say they have been forthcoming, and they say the proposed rate increase is fair.

The proposed increase on the agenda tonight would increase wastewater revenue by 3%, and water system revenue by 5%. City officials say such an increase is needed for operations and planned capital improvements.
