WMU students help people overseas

Two student groups at Western Michigan University hope events on campus this month will help improve the lives of people overseas.

The undergraduate social work organization Eta Eta Sigma will hold a drive to collect wedding dresses. The group will send used bridal gowns and bridesmaid's dresses to Liberia in West Africa so women there can open a bridal rental business. Dresses can be dropped off Wednesday, February 10th, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the College of Health and Human Services on Oakland Drive or in the Bernhard Center on Western's main campus.

On Wednesday, February 17th, Western's chapter of Engineers without Borders will host a dinner to raise money for a project in Honduras. Chapters of the group at Western and Michigan State are building a water supply system for the small village of San Carlos. The dinner will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Bernhard Center's East Ballroom.
