Attitudes on gay rights to be discussed at Western Michigan University Wednesday

Public attitudes toward gay rights will be the topic of a discussion Wednesday night at Western Michigan University. University of Missouri Political Science Professor Marvin Overby's lecture is titled Why are People Gay? And Why it Matters.

Overby says he's actually discussing why the public believes people are gay. Overby says people who believe that sexual orientation is genetic, rather than a choice, are more likely to favor gay rights. Overby will speak Wednesday night at 7:00 in the Fetzer Center. His lecture is sponsored by Western's Institute for Government and Politics and the university's Martin Luther King Junior Celebration Committee.
