West Michigan Congressman Fred Upton says the health care reform law signed by President Obama last month does contain some good measures. But the Saint Joseph Republican, who did not vote for the legislation, says it could have been much better.
Upton says he supports prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions. He also says it's a good idea to allow parents to keep dependent children on their health insurance plans until age 26. But Upton says since no amendments were allowed, there were missed opportunities to make the bill better.
Upton says he's disappointed that the final bill did not include tort reform or allow customers to shop for health insurance across state lines.
