Cooney to launch campaign for Congress

Kalamazoo City Commissioner Don Cooney will formally launch his campaign for Congress Wednesday. Cooney will be making a second run in the Sixth Congressional district. He got 39% of the vote as the Democratic nominee against Republican Congressman Fred Upton two years ago. Cooney has campaign events planned Wednesday in Kalamazoo, Niles, and Benton Harbor. Upton also faces a challenge in the Republican primary from former state Representative Jack Hoogenyk.
