Western Michigan University has named an interim dean for its proposed Medical School. Jack Luderer has been Executive Director of Western's Biosciences Research and Commercialization Center for the past five years. He's previously served as the university's vice-president for research. Luderer will become interim Dean and Associate Dean of Research for the medical school June first.

Luderer says in a news release from Western that he has no desire to be the dean of Western's medical school. A national search is being conducted for a founding dean. Western's proposed medical school has been awarded applicant status with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, which accredits medical schools in the United States and Canada.
