State Medical Society leader discusses need for physicians, new medical school

Western Michigan University officials are currently exploring a possible medical school for the Kalamazoo area. Last week the university released the results of a feasibility study. It finds that Western could operate a medical school along with Bronson and Borgess Hospitals.

Western and two other state universities are considering new medical schools in part because of predictions of a physician shortage in Michigan, and nationwide.

WMUKs Gordon Evans spoke with Greg Forzley, the chairman of the Board of directors for the Michigan State Medical Society.
