A workshop being held this weekend will focus on some of the discrimination people with disabilities face in housing. Sunday's seminar is sponsored by Kalamazoo Collective Housing, Western Michigan University's Disability Services for Students and the university's Division of Multi Cultural Affairs.
Nicki Hurley, an accessibility specialist with Kalamazoo Collective Housing, says the event called "Deconstructing Ableism: Disability and Shared Housing, an anti-oppression training" will go beyond physical challenges.
She says people with disabilities must also overcome prejudice and many misconceptions.
The seminar is free, but people must register in advance.
