Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich was in Lansing Wednesday. He testified before a state Senate committee on health care reform. Gingrich says making everyone's medical records electronic is key to ensuring proper care. And he says people need to take more responsibility for their health by quitting smoking, eating well, exercising, and controlling chronic conditions.
Gingrich says government policies can help, including banning smoking, and requiring students to take physical education five days a week.
Gingrich will also be at a White House sponsored conference in Dearborn on Thursday.
