A special unit of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has launched an investigation into how a leaking cooling tank was handled earlier this month at the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant. Mlive/Kalamazoo Gazette reports that the NRC’s Office of Investigations has launched the investigation. Palisades was shut down two weeks ago. The latest investigation comes after the plant near Covert was downgraded earlier this year. This week Massachusetts Congressman Edward Markey sent a letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission expressing concern about the response to the leaking tank.
