Six proposed amendments to Michigan’s Constitution and one repeal of a state law could appear on the ballot this fall. Monday was the deadline for turning in petition signatures for the November ballot. Gongwer News Service (subscription required) reports this is the most proposals to appear on the ballot in 30 years.(Mlive coverage here)

The proposed Constitutional amendments include one requiring a 2/3 vote of the Legislature to raise taxes, one that would require voter approval for a second bridge between Detroit and Windsor and one that would enshrine certain collective bargaining rights in the state Constitution.

State election officials must certify signatures to place the questions on the ballot, and some of the proposal will face legal challenges, including one that would repeal Michigan’s Emergency Manager law.
