Actor to speak at diversity event in Kalamazoo this week

The 11th Annual Respecting Differences diversity event takes place in Kalamazoo's Chenery Auditorium Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Chinese-American actor B.D. Wong is this year's presenter. His topic is "From Exclusion to Inclusion" and includes a discussion about the myth of the "model minority" that assumes Asian-Americans are so successful that they don't experience discrimination.

The 11th annual diversity event is co-sponsored by the cities of Kalamazoo and Portage and Kalamazoo County, along with Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College. It's free and open to the public. Wong will speak in Chenery Auditorium Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and Wednesday morning at 9:30.
