Granholm plans veto of some state budget bills

The state is operating under a one-month continuation budget while Governor Granholm inspects and signs budget bills. But Granholm says she's not happy with much of what the Legislature has sent her. The governor says vetoes are in store, and she will ask lawmakers to re-do much of the budget. Granholm says the hard-fought agreement cuts too much from college scholarships, Medicaid, and local governments. The governor also wants the Legislature to enact new taxes, so there's more money for programs, and to avert future deficits. Senate Republican leader Mike Bishop says there's not the support in his chamber for new taxes.
