Seventeen file for Kalamazoo City Commission race

At least seventeen people will run for seven Kalamazoo City Commission seats next month. Friday was the deadline for candidates to file the paperwork needed to get on the November 3rd ballot.

Six incumbents are running for re-election: Mayor Bobby Hopewell, Vice-Mayor Hannah McKinney, and commissioners Don Cooney, David Anderson, Barbara Miller, and Stephanie Moore. City Commissioner Sean McCann is not seeking a new term because he's running in the 60th State House District race next year.

The eleven newcomers in the race are Terry Kuseske, Kyle Boyer, Jimmy Dean Ayers, Aaron Davis, Mike Kilbourne, Kai Phillips, Nicholas Boyd, Karen Wellman, Anna Schmidt, Birleta Bean-Hardeman, and Louis Stocking.

Write-in candidates have until October 23rd to register with the Kalamazoo City Clerk's office.

The official list of candidates is available here.
